Fitness Centre

The government has been adjusting the "Vaccine Bubble" regulations for fitness centers. The "Vaccine Bubble" specifies that the air exchange rate of all exercise ranges must be at least 6 times per hour or to have the air purification devices installed in accordance to the actual situation that meet the required specifications. The premises should display the Ventilation Certificate of Competence issued by the registered Qualified RSC(V) Specialist Contractors (Sub-register of Ventilation System Engineering Category).

Configure the air purifiers as per the required specifications by FEHD

It is the same as the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department’s earlier requirements for the food and catering sector. If the air change rate per hour fails to achieve to 6 times or more, it is necessary to install air purifier that meets the required specifications listed on the website of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and place it in a conspicuous place. The premise should also display a certificate which has been completed and signed by the Register of Qualified RSC(V) Specialist Contractors (Sub-register of Ventilation System Works Category).

Central air conditioning may not be able to ensure the air change rate

Air change refers to the inflow of sufficient fresh air from the outside of the premise to dilute the concentration of pollutants in the room to a level below the safe limit before being discharged outside. However, in most commercial buildings in Hong Kong that use central air-conditioning, the air change rate per hour is generally no more than 3 times; if the air change rate per hour reaches 6 times or more, not only the energy consumption will be increased by multiples, but also increases the cooling loading of the entire air-conditioning system. As such, configuring an air purifier would definitely a relatively more cost-effective solution.
